The Benefits

The great benefit which De Gier Business Law offers its clients through this approach lies in combining matters. We do not offer a single benefit. There are more.

First of all, there are the superior services we provide in relation to business and property law. Then there is our network concept. As part of it, when procuring legal services for our clients De Gier Business Law combines its experience and expertise with its sound knowledge of the legal market. There is a major advantage to this in that De Gier Business Law is and remains a law firm itself first and foremost. Thanks to this position and partly because of our extensive experience over a long period of time, we are exceedingly familiar with the legal market and what is on offer in it. Thanks to our expertise De Gier Business Law is eminently capable of assessing whether a specialist can provide quality, also on a professional level. De Gier Business Law assesses this beforehand when it engages a specialist from within its network but also subsequent to this while the case is current. We continue to monitor matters and also play a supervisory role for our clients as the case unfolds: Is progress being achieved? Is the specialist’s advice to the point? And are the fees correct?

By adopting this approach the role played by De Gier Business Law may also be compared with that of a “legal mediator” or “authorised legal representative”. De Gier Business Law analyses an issue from an objective perspective. We find the best specialists for our clients and we assist them with further progress. By doing so we make a strategic contribution, with the result that our experience and expertise also provide added value in other areas of law.

De Gier Business Law can add value to any issue which has a legal aspect: the selection of a specialist from a large preselected pool followed by supervising and monitoring the process from an advisory perspective. De Gier Business Law plays a role which comes even more into its own in the case of more complex cases or issues with an international dimension. In this case we play a coordinating role between our client and any specialist (foreign or otherwise) and maintain an overview for our client: what the situation is, whether it still makes sense to continue, and what the prospects are (both in terms of the outcome and the costs involved). Contact continues to be routed through De Gier Business Law as the case unfolds and our clients do not constantly have to contend with a different contact person. De Gier Business Law is their constant point of contact.

De Gier Business Law’s concept offers a major benefit in the form of the wide range of qualified specialists available. De Gier Business Law is not limited by the number of lawyers whom it employs. We can choose from a more wide-ranging pool and through our network have more specialists at our disposal than many large law firms. This also ensures that the approach adopted by De Gier Business Law is objective. When selecting a specialist from our network we only allow ourselves to be guided by the interests of our clients and it does not matter where a specialist practices or to whom he is affiliated. All we consider is the question as to which specialist is the most appropriate in relation to our client and the situation in question. Yet should it appear during a case that matters are not running smoothly, it is easy to select a different specialist promptly.

The approach which De Gier Business Law adopts is also entirely transparent. A specialist simply deals with a case on his own behalf using his own letterhead. The specialist's fees are routed through De Gier Business Law. We examine whether the invoices are correct and pass them on to our clients one-by-one along with a surcharge of 5% by way of a handling and assistance fee.

As it happens, De Gier Business Law's network is not confined to legal matters. Our clients receive assistance in relation to various issues even if a matter is more wide-ranging. Usually, the issue at stake is of a legal nature but our network also includes, for example, specialists who are notaries, accountants, tax consultants and asset managers. Consequently, it is an easy matter to establish a multidisciplinary team as the case arises and to undertake exceedingly prompt, practical action.
